Kwara: EU Observers Visit APC Campaign Secretariat, Promise Unflinching Field Report

The European Union Election Observer Mission Nigeria 2019 on Monday visited campaign secretariat of All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate in Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq as part of their ongoing electioneering monitoring in the state and country.



The EU Observer led by Gabor Basch and Mashu Poulsen interacted with the representatives of Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq campaign council (AACO) at their Secretariat located along Fate Road, Ilorin. 

While welcoming the EU team, Alhaji Yakub Ajanaku thanked them for their professionalism, and uprightness in performing their duty.

Ajanaku reaffirmed that Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq “is the only authentic APC governorship candidate recognized by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as it appeared in the list released by commission.

Responding to questions from EU Observers, AACO Director of Media and Publicity for Kwara Central Comrade Abdulrasheed Akogun stated that APC is running a peaceful campaign with focus on house to house campaign in order to reach out to electorates directly.

Akogun disclosed that APC governorship flagbearer is currently in Baruten local government, Kwara North Zone to continue grassroots campaign in Kwara North.

He said the party has turned to a mass movement in Kwara because everybody want to associate with message of hope and liberation Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq is preaching.

”APC is mass movement in Kwara state. The manifesto of our party has been tagged Street Blueprint/Working Document because it is product of NEEDS Assessment about societal challenges. It is a roadmap on how to make Kwara work for every Kwaran irrespective of their status, religion, creed or location.”

He added that Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq campaign organization has been decentralised into three, one for each senatorial district to ensure effective campaign and free flow of activities.

Akogun charged EU Observers to beam their searchlight on Asa local government during the forthcoming polls in order to prevent electoral manipulations associated with the council in the past.

In his closing remarks, Gabor Basch promised to be fair to all political parties in their duties.

Basch noted that the EU Observers in Kwara state are forwarding all reports to head of the team in Abuja for necessary actions.

He expressed readiness of their team to monitor campaign activities of the political parties and called on parties to avail them with their campaign schedule.
