It was a mini carnival-like event as encomiums were showered on the Secretary to the state Government of Plateau state. Hon. Danladi Abok Atu, courtesy of the Izere Unity Forum, a socio-political and economic group of the Afizere Extraction of Jos North Local government Area of Plateau state. Leader of the group and former leader of the legislative arm of Jos North Local government council, Hon. John Izang, said that the event to honour the SGS as a worthy son of Izere is due to his track records as the former chairman of Jos North, saying that, he was able to torch the lives of people positively,
The Elders of the group led by Engineer Stephen Igyem Inyam and Elder Musa Itse presented a congratulatory card to the SSG, according to them; the card was a symbol of loyalty and support for the Lalong’s administration by the Izere people. They said, “He is a peace builder.”
The group also urged the federal and state governments to establish state police that will partner with the traditional rulers and promote peace in the society. Also delivering their separate speeches of congratulatory messages, the management committee chairman of Jos North local government council, Hon. Philip Inyam Izang, represented by his Special Adviser on media and protocol, Comrade I. I Jos, salute the Afizere Unity Forum for honoring one of their own and pledged his commitment to the Izere nation and Plateau, Inyam sued for peaceful coexistence among the people of the locality.
The former Speaker of the state house of assembly, Rt. Hon. Peter Ajang Azi, admonished the Izere people to learn how to criticise their leaders in a positive ways instead of backbiting and sabotaging their efforts. Hhe commended the plateau state governor, Rt.Hon. Simon Bako Lalong for appointing the erudite scholar that he has made them proud by uplifting the standard of education in the state.
In his respond, the SSG, Professor Abok Atu said without the Afizere Unity Forum, he wouldn’t have been where he is today. “I am proud of you people and I will not disappoint you. We should see Plateau holistically as one. My role as the SSG is to drive the policy of the government. The Rescue administration have lofty policies for the people of Plateau and desirous to take the state to the next level.
“The three pillar policies of the administration are hinged into three pillar policies and one of these policies is Peace, security and good governance. No government will succeed without Peace, violence destroy development. We in Jos north have experience violence. As a nation, we should promote peaceful co-existence; so many writers have described Izere as peaceful people. He urge the people of Plates state to use the advantage of the livestock transformation plan of Federal government, the programme.
Is not only for those rearing cattle but other animals are inclusive. The honoured giving to me today is great and I cannot forget in my life. The Royal blessings was led by Adagwom Jos Izere Chiefdom, Ada Emmanuel Ajik (JP), represented by the District Head of Gyese (Tudun Wada) Ada Peter Inyam, Pray to God Almighty to guide and protect the SGS and other Izere sons and daughters serving In government, the event took place at the hill station hotel in Jos.
