Easter: NILDS DG Felicitates Christians, Urges Prayers for Nigeria

1 Mins read

The Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman, has extended warm Easter greetings to Christians across the country, urging them to use the occasion to pray for Nigeria’s peace, progress, and prosperity.

In a statement issued on Saturday, April 4, 2026, by his Media Adviser, Mohammad Abdulkadri, the NILDS boss described Easter as a season of deep spiritual significance in Christendom, symbolizing sacrifice, redemption, and hope.

Professor Sulaiman noted that the celebration of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ represents the triumph of light over darkness and life over death. He emphasized that these enduring values should inspire Christians to promote peace, security, charity, fairness, and peaceful coexistence in society.

He called on the Christian faithful to reflect on the lessons of Christ’s sacrifice and apply them in their daily lives and interactions, particularly in fostering national unity and harmony.

While wishing Christians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration, the former Minister of National Planning also urged them to offer special prayers for Nigeria, especially as the country prepares for forthcoming general elections. He stressed the need for divine guidance to ensure a smooth, credible, and peaceful electoral process.

The statement reaffirmed the importance of collective prayers and moral responsibility in addressing the nation’s challenges and advancing its development aspirations.
