2019: Who blinks first between Ganduje and Kwankwaso?

The sack of no fewer than  10  loyalists of the former governor of Kano State,  Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has predictably generated tension.

The followers of the now Senator representing Kano Central in the 8th National Assembly were compelled to respond to this challenge by organizing  an emergency meeting and rally  recently at his campaign office on  Ludgard Avenue.

Among those  sacked were the  Accountant General, Danjuma Adamu, who was accused of  spying for  Kwankwaso on matters concerning  financial incomes  while  sabotaging  financial payments to the state government.

Also sacked was the  Secretary to the State Government, Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi, the Director General, Information and Communication, Baba Halilu Dantiye,  and APC Women Leader, Hajia Habiba Garba Yandalla.

The meeting, which  involved participants from the 44 local governments of the state, was to mobilize  them against Ganduje, ahead of the 2019 polls.

Kwankwaso, who  was  represented at the forum  by his then  Chief of Staff, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam, described  Ganduje as a“  betrayer and enemy’’  of  Kwankwasiyya legacy in the state.

He said Ganduje was voted in as governor because of the sincere belief that he will continue with the good works initiated by Kwankwaso. He appealed to Kwankwaso’s  supporters to tackle  Ganduje until he continues with the Kwankwasiyya legacy.

Although  Ganduje had said on  many occasions that  his relation with his former boss was cordial  analysts are of the view that all is not well with their relationship.

The governor’s  supporters are accusing Kwankwaso of leaving the state in huge debt which has resulted to the none performance of the current administration.

But  speaking on the removal of  Kwankwaso’s loyalists in the Ganduje government, the state Commissioner of Information, Muhammad Garba, said the exercise was not targeted at anyone, adding that it was to promote good governance.

Given the antecedents of  Kwankwaso in Kano’s political turf and the dwindling economic fortunes of the state which had precipitated hardship in the state , what prospects does 2019 offer for Ganduje? The answer is blowing in the winds!
