…As Winners Emerge Ahead of Grand Finale
The ASHRAAF Islamic Foundation has successfully concluded the first stage of its maiden Qur’an Competition, bringing together young Qur’an memorisers from leading Islamic schools across the Federal Capital Territory in a remarkable display of faith, excellence and devotion to the Holy Qur’an.
Held at the Peace Court Estate Central Mosque, Lokogoma, Abuja, the competition attracted enthusiastic participation from pupils aged 12 years and below, reaffirming the Foundation’s commitment to nurturing a generation firmly grounded in the teachings and values of Islam.
The event, which forms part of the Foundation’s vision of “Nurturing the Qur’an, Building a Better Ummah,” featured contestants in the Juz 30 (Sūratun-Naba’i Category), Juz 29 (Sūratul Mulk Category) and Juz 28 (Sūratul Mujādalah Category), with participants demonstrating impressive mastery of Qur’anic memorisation, Tajweed and confidence before the panel of judges.
Participating schools included Glowing Ages Academy, Al-Aqsoh Islamic School, Al-Muflihoon International School, Exemplary Guidance Academy, Al-Hamideen Academy, Al-Hidayah Academy, Mahdu Nurul-Huda Islamic School, and Halqoh bn Shuaib, reflecting the growing enthusiasm among Islamic schools to promote Qur’anic learning.
The first stage also attracted respected community leaders and distinguished personalities, including Alhaji Abdulwasiu Jimoh Kehinde, Alhaji Ismail Alabelewe, Alhaji A. Kazeem, and Alhaji Abdulrasheed Shekoni, whose presence underscored the importance of investing in the spiritual development of young Muslims.
At the end of the keenly contested exercise, outstanding participants emerged in the various categories.
In the Sūratun-Naba’i (Juz 30) Category, Fauzan Malami of Al-Faizeen emerged overall winner with an impressive score of 87.8 percent, while Muhammad Jami’u of Al-Muflihoon International School secured second position with 84.5 percent.
Other participants in the category included Barakat Ibrahim, Ibrahim Muhammad of Al-Aqsoh Islamic School, Husnah Yaqub of Mahdu Nurul-Huda Islamic School, Fatimah S. Hamzah of Exemplary Guidance Academy, Fatimah of Glowing Ages Academy, and Hassanah Muhammad of Al-Hidayah Academy.
In the Sūratul Mulk (Juz 29) Category, Usman Ursa of Al-Hamideen Academy claimed first position with 89.0 percent, while Juwayrah Habeeb of Al-Muflihoon International School finished second with 88.3 percent.
Other contestants included Ahmad Qasim of Mahdu Nurul-Huda Islamic School, Fatimah of Al-Hidayah Academy, Maymunah Abdullahi of Halqoh bn Shuaib, Nasir Muhammad of Al-Aqsoh Islamic School, Salisu Khalid of Glowing Ages Academy, and Solidhu Sani of Exemplary Guidance Academy.
In the Sūratul Mujādalah (Juz 28) Category, Abdul Dayyan of Al-Muflihoon International School emerged winner with 89.3 percent, while Abubakar Shuaib of Halqoh bn Shuaib came second with 84.8 percent.
Speaking after the competition, the Director of Da’wah of ASHRAAF Islamic Foundation, Ustaz Murtadhor Babamole, expressed profound appreciation to participating schools, parents, judges, volunteers and guests for making the maiden edition a huge success.
He described the competition as a practical demonstration of the Foundation’s long-standing commitment to promoting Qur’anic education, sound moral upbringing and leadership development among Muslim children.

Ustaz Babamole added that the Foundation would continue to expand programmes that encourage Islamic scholarship, youth development, humanitarian service and peaceful coexistence.
Also addressing participants, the Deputy Director of Da’wah of ASHRAAF Islamic Foundation, Ustaz Abdulrasaq Sambo, commended all contestants for their courage, discipline and dedication to memorising the Holy Qur’an.
He noted that every participant was already a winner for choosing the path of Qur’anic learning, adding that such initiatives would continue to strengthen Islamic values among the younger generation.
“We congratulate all the successful contestants and encourage those who did not emerge among the top winners not to be discouraged. Memorising and living by the Qur’an is itself a lifelong achievement, and we pray that Allah rewards every effort made by the children, their parents and teachers,” he said.
The Foundation has announced that winners and other outstanding contestants from the first stage will proceed to the Grand Finale, scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Mariam Babangida Development Centre (Opposite CBN Headquarters), Abuja, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
ASHRAAF Islamic Foundation has therefore extended another invitation to parents, Islamic scholars, school proprietors, community leaders and members of the general public to attend the grand finale and join in celebrating excellence in Qur’anic memorisation while encouraging the next generation of custodians of the Holy Qur’an.
