Gombe Police Promote Youth Engagement, Peace and Healthy Living

The Gombe State Police Command has marked the 2026 International Youth Day with a peace walk aimed at promoting healthy living, physical fitness and stronger relationships between the police and members of the public, particularly youths.

The event, held under the theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” was led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, and involved police personnel and youth groups.

The peace walk, organised under the slogan “Walk for Wellness,” commenced from the Gombe State Police Command Headquarters and ended at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe.

Speaking during the exercise, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso stressed the importance of physical fitness and mental alertness among police officers, noting that a healthy and physically fit workforce is essential for effective policing and public safety.

The Commissioner also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to community-oriented policing, youth engagement and collaboration with relevant stakeholders to sustain peace and security across Gombe State.

The Command urged youths to embrace positive lifestyles and shun violence, thuggery, drug abuse and other forms of criminality, while encouraging them to contribute positively to the development and peaceful coexistence of their communities.
