Religion: Staff’s Interfaith Collaborations Excites DG NILDS

History was made at the Permanent Site of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS on Wednesday 2nd September 2026 as Muslims and Christians staff deepened harmonious Interfaith cooperations and collaborations.

The occasion was the groundbreaking and foundation laying ceremony of the NILDS Jumat Mosque three years after relocating to its permanent site.

In a statement e-signed by Mohammad Abdulkadri  (mnipr) Media Adviser TO DG NILDS and made available ti Tine Nigeria stated that,

“The Director General National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS, Prof.Abubakar O Sulaiman, couldn’t have been excited less seeing not only the numbers of Christians attendees almost equalled their Muslims counterpart but also participating actively as master of ceremony and co- organisers.

“The obviously elated Professor Sulaiman who is donating half of his monthly salaries for one year in supporting of the mosque project opined that NILDS harmonious Interfaith atmosphere had rekindled the hope of a turmoil- free and prosperous Nigeria if every Nigerian de-emphasises religious affinity and identity and speaks with one voice patriotically, on matters of building a virile nation.

“While urging the staff to take full ownership of the mosque towards making the 3- 5 months finishing timeline a reality by making donations and reaching out to people for support he raised hope for the building of Christians worship centre soon.”

The former minister of National Planning appreciated the presence of the Imam and the Deputy Imam of the National Assembly Jumat mosque, Mallam Rayan Sani, and Dr. Bala Muhammad who also joined the NILDS DG to perform the symbolic ceremony of laying the blocks and prayed to Almighty Allah to accept the project as an act of Ibadah in this life and in the hereafter.
