SDP House of Representatives candidate for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Hon. Oladigbo Oluwasogo Olalekan, has challenged voters in Ijesha North to make their voices heard in the January 2027 general election, following reports of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s appointment as coordinator of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in Osun State.
Hon. Oladigbo, who reacted to the reported development, expressed disappointment over Governor Adeleke’s decision to work with the All Progressives Congress (APC), arguing that such an alliance raises questions about the political expectations of Osun State residents who supported the governor during the August governorship election.
According to the SDP candidate, the economic difficulties and rising cost of living experienced by Nigerians under the current administration have made the political alignment between the APC and the Accord Party a subject of concern for voters in Osun State.
He argued that the reported cooperation between the two parties could make it difficult for voters to distinguish their political positions, urging residents of Obokun, Oriade and other parts of Osun State to carefully examine their records, policies and commitments ahead of the 2027 elections.
“It is disheartening to see Governor Ademola Adeleke working with the APC despite the hardships Nigerians are experiencing. Many people in Osun State supported him with the expectation that their interests would remain a priority,” Oladigbo said.
He further described the reported political development as a source of disappointment for some supporters of the governor, insisting that voters should assess whether the emerging alliance reflects the expectations they had when they cast their ballots.
The SDP candidate called on eligible voters in Ijesha North to consider the Social Democratic Party (SDP) as an alternative ahead of the 2027 general election. He maintained that his party’s campaign would focus on improving living conditions, expanding economic opportunities and addressing the concerns of ordinary citizens.
Oladigbo also urged voters to support the SDP’s candidates across the constituency and at the national level, identifying Prince Adewole Adebayo as the party’s presidential candidate and Arc. Goke Omigbodun as its candidate for the Osun Central Senatorial District.
He called on voters in Obokun and Oriade Federal Constituency to support his own bid for the House of Representatives, saying he intends to represent the interests of the people of Ijesha North at the National Assembly.
The SDP candidate maintained that the 2027 election would provide voters with an opportunity to assess the political parties and candidates seeking their mandate, particularly on issues relating to economic hardship, employment, public welfare and effective representation.
He urged residents to participate actively in the electoral process and make their decisions based on the records, policies and promises of the candidates seeking their votes.
As political activities gather momentum ahead of 2027, the reported alignment between the APC and Accord Party in Osun State is likely to feature prominently in the political debate, with opposition parties expected to use the development to question the direction of the state’s political leadership.
