Members of the Plateau State House of Assembly have been tasked to work harder and ensure that the All Progressives Congress (APC) wins all the elective positions, including the governorship, in the state in the 2027 general elections.

The National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, who gave the charge in Abuja, while playing host to members of the Plateau State House of Assembly at the party Secretariat on Tuesday, stated that all indicators show that the APC has become more acceptable to Nigerians now more than other political parties.

Yilwatda remarked that the endless influx into the APC has become a reference point and shows that the ruling party has gained acceptance and the live of Nigerans.

“Let me thank you for taking your time to be here. I appreciate the fact that we have a majority of twenty four House of Assembly members who are APC. At the National Assembly, especially the House of Representatives, the APC members are mire and in the Senate, two out of three members are APC. What we don’t have is the governor. I can assure you that APC is Plateau and Plateau is APC.

“It’s not in doubt we can take the party back, build it around you people. I assure you that we will all work together to support you across the state for a destination of choice. All of us in the APC, all the members of APC are the mechanics of this party to fix this vehicle to a destination of our choice. And to ensure that is done as you all know we are just coordinators, the strength of the party is not at the national… you are the nearest to the people.

“So, I depend on you. We can assure you that we will ensure transparency, ensure inclusivity, ensure that we broaden the space, open our doors, and our doors are still open to attract more people. For people attracted, we have to include governors that are still counting.
Earlier, the Speaker of the assembly, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel Gapyil, who led the 24 members, including two PDP legislators, to the APC National Secretariat told the chairman the visit was fir solidarity.

Addressing the media soon afterwards, the speaker stated that the lawmakers have been working harmoniously with the PDP Governor in the interest if peace and the development of the state.

He stated that going forward, the lawmakers would take the task assigned to them by the National Chairman seriously and take the gospel of the party to all nooks and crannies of Plateau State to win more members for the party.

“Like I said actually we came here to congratulate our brother, our son and our uncle that by divine mercy of God today he is a national chairman of our great party, the APC

“It is a thing of joy for us in the platform that is why we have come to declare to the whole world that we’re celebrating this great feat and that we’re giving him all the maximum support believing that Plateau state is going to see a turning point and you know Plateau state is the driver that drives the entire central Nigeria.

“We hope with what has happened it will go a long way in changing the narrative particularly as we move forward towards 2027 and I am sure that some of the sentiments that were escalated by virtue of the new appointment has been addressed, such as most of those unending aspirations that our people were driving.

“For the first question, our greatest strength as a party and also instrument that we use in mobilizing and galvanizing support for His Excellency. In Plateau State, we have 22 members of the Plateau State House of Assembly who are APC. And if you cascade it down to our various wards, we have structures all over the place, campaigning for APC and the Renew Hope Agenda .We are doing that collectively, knowing fully well that if we do not stand to promote the party, of course, the chances are that we might not be able to make it in 2027.

“So, what we are doing silently that people are not aware is the simple fact that as a House, we have a caucus and in this caucus, each one of us is engaging the people and we have a meeting point where we share ideas and get feedbacks of those things that we are doing.

“So, on the Plateau, it might be quite for people who are not conversant with the development on the plateau, but I can tell you that a lot is being done. Concerning Mr. President, on the plateau, we don’t even know whether there is any other party, because even the party that you would not even expect to campaign for Mr. President are already campaigning for him,” the speaker concluded.
