39th Convocation: Egbewole Urges 12,042 Graduands to Use Knowledge, Skills for Societal Development

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole SAN, has charged the graduating students to start taking responsibilities and be good ambassadors of the institution.

The VC made the call during the 39th convocation ceremony of the the school while speaking on the topic; ‘No longer where we were’.

He told the graduands to compete favourably in the available space to make impact and change the narrative about the country to an enviable one.

Prof. Egbewole maintained that the graduating students will now have to relief their parents by taking up bills, take responsibility for their actions and contribute meaningfully to the nation building.

Professor Egbewole maintained that the graduating students will now have to relief their parents by taking up bills, take responsibility for their actions and contribute meaningfully to the nation building.

“Dear graduands, you need to understand that this occasion sets you up for unavoidable societal expectations to deliver and add value in your own corner to yet a great nation, your immediate community, this university and yourself.

“You will have to pick up bills, take responsibility for your actions, contribute meaningfully to nation building and maturely integrate into the new world because you are no longer where you were 4 years ago.

“Becoming our ambassadors and advocates is a rare and matchless privilege in all ramifications. Guide jealously the heritage bequeathed on you from here on.”

The VC also said the university has been adjudged by the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) as the most preferred in Nigeria urging people to be part of the institution 50th anniversary by 2025.

Holistic Info’s reports that the institution convocate over 12,042 students at the undergraduate level, more than 1,000 at the postgraduate programme with records of 256 first class.
