Support Police with Credible Information to Prevent Crime in the State – Kogi CP, Onuoha Appeals

The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, C.P Bethrand C Onuoha has appealed to the people of Kogi State to always avail men and officers of the command credible information for swift actions towards crime prevention and bringing perpetrators to book.

CP Onuoha who made the appeal while fielding questions with news men on his new year’s prospect said Kogi State Police cannot succeed without the cooperation of members of the public noting that, actionable intelligence is crucial to crime prevention.

He assured that the Command will surely improved on the success achieved last year emphasising that the unique nature of Kogi State as the gate way to nine states in the country requires strategic approach towards crime prevention.

” Kogi is one of the biggest state in Nigeria, it has boundaries with nine states plus the Feferal Capital Territory, Abuja. The nature of the state poses the challenges of difficult terrain in many areas. Big forests, bushes, water or riverine areas. All these are favourable environment for criminal activities. Criminals have access through which they can penetrate the state to carry out their activities and exist. We are trying to tackle them, there is much collaboration between the police and the navy when it comes to water. In land, we collaborate with all security agents.

The CP recounts that much success were recorded before Christmas at the boundry between Olamaboro and Enugu through combine efforts of security agents thereby forcing criminals and kidnappers to vacate the terrain.

Contrary to this however, the Commissioner emphasised that the Command is currently focusing on Kabba area leading to boundaries with Ekiti and Kwara States noting that officers and men of the Command have been mobilised to the areas.

Describing their roles as crucial to the war against kidnapping and arm robbery, CP Onuoha appealed to the state government to continue its support for the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Services and Kogi State Vigilante Services.

He urged the state government to improve on their welfare and provide the needed arms and ammunition to enhance the discharge of their duties.

On recent kidnapping in Ajaokuta Local Government Area, the CP said almost all the victims have been rescued through combine efforts of security agents assuring that some kidnappers recently arrested with seven AK47 would soon be publicly paraded.

While congratulating the the Arm Forces on their remembrance day, the CP prayed for God’s continued protection for those securing the territorial integrity of the country.
