The Association of Bloggers and Journalists Against Fake News (ABJAFN) has said that it is pleased to announce its endorsement of Abdulrahman Aliagan, an Abuja based veteran journalist and Group Managing Editor of TimeNigeria Magazine, for the position of National President of the Nigerian Guild of Investigative Journalists (NGIJ).

ABJFN’s National President, Comrade James Ezema, in a statement issued on Friday noted that “As an organization dedicated to promoting ethical journalism and combating fake news, we believe that Aliagan’s candidacy represents a beacon of hope for the future of investigative journalism in Nigeria.

“As a member of the Board of Trustees of our association, we are abreast with his towering wealth of experience and commitment to transparency, accountability, and professional development, the qualities that make him the ideal candidate to lead the NGIJ at this time.

“We are very confident that Abdulrahman Aliagan has the vision, leadership skills, and dedication required to change the narrative about investigative journalism in Nigeria,” said ABJFN.

The statement added, “His pledge to prioritize transparency, accountability, and effective governance within the Guild aligns with our organization’s values and mission.”

ABJAFN then applauded Aliagan’s focus on capacity building and professional development, which it believes “is critical to creating a formidable force of investigative journalists who uphold the highest standards of ethical journalism.

“His commitment to championing truth, transparency, and social justice resonates with our organization’s goal of promoting a culture of fact-based reporting.

“We therefore urge all members of the NGIJ to support Aliagan’s candidacy and join us in our quest to promote ethical journalism and combat fake news in Nigeria.

“Together, we can create a better future for investigative journalism in our country”, ABJFN concluded.
