Gombe Government Donates 100 Million Naira to Borno Flood Victims

The Gombe State Government has identified with the government and people of Borno State over the recent flood disaster that devastated the State Capital and environs.

Gombe indicated that Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, who was represented by a high powered delegation led by the deputy governor, Manassah Daniel Jatau,  presented a donation of 100 million naira as assistance to the victims of the incidence, praying God that such devastating incidence never reoccur in the history of Borno State.
Conveying the heartfelt sympathy of the governor and people of Gombe State at the Government House and the Shehu of Borno’s palace in Maiduguri, the deputy governor said the visit was informed by the bond existing between the two states.
Also speaking was the Secretary to the Gombe  state government, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi who said the news of the devastating flood got to the governor who is on an official engagement outside the country, and has directed that the visit be made immidiately in view of the friendship existing between the two neighbouring states.
At the Government House, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum expressed appreciation over the concern and love shown to them in this trying time.
He also acknowledged and appreciated the donations of 100 million naira from Gombe State Government, pledging to use it judiciously towards mitigating the effect of the flood.
The Gombe delegation proceeded to the palace of his royal highness, the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Garbai  Al’amin Elkanami, where the Deputy Governor Manasseh Daniel Jatau sympathized with the people over loss of lives and property, praying the Almighty Allah to repose the soul of the deceased, and that  such unfortunate incidents do not happen again.
The Shehu of Borno appreciated Governor Inuwa Yahaya for sending such a high powered contingent to commiserate with them, describing the magnitude of the disaster as greater than that which occurred 30 years ago.
The Gombe delegation also visited some areas affected by the flooding incidents within Maiduguri metropolis.
