A group of Ilorin indigenes, under the umbrella of Ilorin in Diaspora has lambasted the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq over the demolition of a shopping complex belonging to Hon. Moshood Mustapha, another chieftain of APC.

The group stated that regardless of the justification being provided by media rodents of the administration, the revelation that the Governor awarded Kwara Hotel renovation contract for over ₦17bn as against ₦3bn proposal by Crystal group , and the involvement of Hon. MM in the recent local government election are the two reasons why his properties are being targeted for demolition. However, for a Governor that is being rejected by his people, what can chieftain of his party do to avert the imminent defeat that awaits them?

The bulldozers that were deployed for the demolition were hefty, with nothing but a clear intention to erase any history of that building from the site. Small business owners are also victims created out of political vendetta. Didn’t Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq learn from the fate of Godwin Obaseki who fought everyone, only to be standing alone in an election? It is unfair that Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is deploying fear as a tactics, which will not earn him the respect of those close or distant to him. Even if family members pretend about it, everyone knows a mad when they see one, and that act is condemnable. No sane person, we repeat, no sane person will create a victim out of innocent business owners in this economy, just for political vendetta and scoring of cheap points.

The group also disclosed that Abdulrahman seems to be obsessed with Hon. Moshood Mustapha, as the Sardauna title was rumoured to be reserved for Hon. MM according to Palace sources, the Governor stole it and arm twisted the palace for it. The recent action of the Governor also shows the failure of the IEDPU in managing crisis within the Emirate. The leadership of IEDPU is at the weakest and the most incompetent we have seen so far, and they have reduced themselves to the media wing of the ruling party.

They folded their arms when the house of the former Waziri, Olusola Saraki and father of current Waziri, Bukola Saraki was being demolished, razed to the ground without any thought or consideration for the image of Ilorin. The same thing is currently happening, with a purported Sardauna demolishing the property of a Wakilin Ngeri. The stability and peaceful co-existence which are part of IEDPU’s mandate have been relegated to the background.

There is no justification for this madness, it is purely and entirely politically, regardless of fruitless attempt to label it as a illegal structure. This is the fifth year of Abdulrahman in government, and until he fell out with Hon. Moshood Mustapha, that building was left untouched. This will affect local investment, as we need people of different political leanings, interest and difference to invest in the Emirate. This is not democracy, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is morally bankrupt and has no regard for the palace or how his actions will put HRM, the Emir of Ilorin on the spotlight badly.
