Minister of State for Police Affairs, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, delivered a powerful and transformative address at the National Security Conference, unveiling bold reforms aimed at modernizing the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). Her vision, aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, emphasizes leveraging technology to tackle Nigeria’s complex security challenges.

The Conference which had the theme “Connecting the Dot Between Identity Tracking and National Security” saw a lot of dignitaries from various security agencies and security conscious bodies.

The minister’s keynote highlighted the critical role of identity tracking systems in combating crime and terrorism. She championed the near-completion of the National Data Fusion Center, a hub designed to integrate identity data and enhance national threat detection. This advanced use of digital identity tracking is set to make Nigeria a global leader in identity-based security.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim outlined her “Renewed Hope Police Reform Roadmap,” a comprehensive strategy built on six pillars. These include technical excellence, sectoral policing enhancements, and community-based approaches, all designed to create a 21st-century, intelligence-led police force.

The minister also introduced game-changing initiatives such as the NPF Green Initiative, deploying solar-powered police stations and electric vehicles to boost environmental sustainability. Her leadership has also seen the success of the NPF National Cybercrime Center, which recently resolved a N16 billion fraud case.

Beyond technology, Sulaiman-Ibrahim is focusing on economic revitalization through security, with plans to establish a Police Industrial Complex that will manufacture essential equipment domestically, reducing foreign dependency and creating jobs.

Through her reforms, Sulaiman-Ibrahim is revolutionizing Nigerian policing, making it more effective, agile, and technologically advanced. Her commitment to inclusivity and community engagement, alongside her push for gender equality, has earned her praise as a transformative leader in Nigeria’s security landscape.

As Nigeria continues to face evolving security threats, Sulaiman-Ibrahim’s leadership is positioning the NPF as a model of modern policing, ensuring national security and economic prosperity.
