— Minister Badaru Pledges Collaboration and Sustained Efforts

The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to improving security in the South-East region, with the Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, assuring residents of intensified efforts to foster peace and development.
During an operational visit to Enugu and Imo States, the Minister engaged with officers of the 82 Division/Joint Task Force South-East Operation Udo Ka, led by Major General H.T. Dada. He commended their dedication to addressing insecurity and urged them to ramp up efforts, particularly as the festive season approaches.
In his remarks, Minister Badaru emphasized the link between security and economic prosperity, noting that a secure environment is essential for the entrepreneurial spirit of the South-East to thrive. “President Tinubu has directed me to engage with you all to find sustainable solutions to insecurity. Without security, there can be no peace or development,” he stated.
He also called on stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, and students, to collaborate in tackling insecurity. The Minister invited candid suggestions and actionable information from the public to enhance peace in the region.
Highlighting the government’s progress, Minister Badaru affirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains steadfast in his resolve to eradicate insecurity. “There is a renewed determination to intensify our efforts under President Tinubu’s leadership,” he said.
The General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Major General Hassan Dada, assured that robust measures were underway to ensure safety during the Christmas season. “Operation Udo Ka aims to create a secure atmosphere for the usual mass return for the festive season,” he noted.
In a related development, retired Major General John Nwoga addressed the harmful impact of misinformation on social media, urging communities to curb the circulation of outdated and misleading videos that exacerbate insecurity.
Continuing his tour in Imo State, the Defence Minister visited key military installations, including the FOB Okigwe, 211 Quick Response Group of the Nigerian Airforce in Owerri, and the Naval Base in Oguta. He delivered President Tinubu’s message of gratitude to the troops and urged them to build on their achievements.
The Minister also paid a courtesy visit to Governor Hope Uzodimma, commending him for his unwavering support to the 82 Division and Joint Task Force.
The Ministry of Defence reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a secure and peaceful environment that supports business and community development in the South-East.
