Saudi authorities have announced the official sighting of the crescent moon, signaling the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Shawwal 1446. As a result, Muslims across the kingdom and many parts of the world will celebrate Eid al-Fitr on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

The announcement was made on Saturday via the official Facebook page of Haramain, a key source of Islamic updates for the global Muslim community.

“The crescent moon for the month of Shawwal 1446 was sighted in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30, 2025,” the statement read.

Eid al-Fitr, meaning the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” marks the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, during which Muslims observe fasting from dawn to dusk, engage in prayer, and practice acts of charity. The festival is a time of gratitude, communal prayers, and celebration, as families and friends gather to share festive meals and give to those in need.
