By Abdulrahman Aliagan,  Abuja.

The National President of the APC Initiative for Good Governance (APC-IGG), Ambassador Musa Tsoken, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a powerful force attracting both political actors and the masses into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in Abuja, Tsoken stated that the sweeping reforms and developmental initiatives rolled out by the Tinubu administration have repositioned Nigeria on the path of growth and stability. He said the achievements so far have generated renewed confidence across political divides and continue to strengthen the ruling party’s position nationwide. He further noted that the momentum aligns with the consistent appeal by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Dr. George Akume, CON, who has urged Nigerians to support the Renewed Hope Agenda as a blueprint for sustainable economic development and national transformation.

Ambassador Tsoken emphasized that Nigeria is currently being guided by competent leaders with the capacity to deliver good governance. He praised the leadership roles of SGF Akume, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and several other APC figures who, according to him, are driving the government’s renewed vision for a prosperous nation.

Despite the economic challenges facing the country and the global environment, the Tinubu administration has recorded significant progress in various sectors. In the area of economic reform, the removal of fuel subsidy has saved the country about ₦4 trillion annually, with the funds being redirected into critical infrastructure and social intervention programs. The unification of exchange rates eliminated arbitrage and boosted investor confidence, leading to an increase of $3 billion in foreign exchange inflows in the third quarter of 2023. Additionally, Nigeria’s foreign reserves stabilized at around $33.95 billion by November 2023, a development attributed to improved investor relations and foreign direct investments.

In terms of investment and infrastructure, President Tinubu attracted $14 billion in foreign direct investment commitments from Indian investors, a move expected to generate thousands of jobs. The ongoing rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt Refinery is projected to refine 60,000 barrels of crude oil daily and save the country an estimated $7 billion annually in fuel imports. Also, the completion of the Second Niger Bridge has improved connectivity for over 40 million Nigerians in the South-East region, while the federal government has allocated ₦800 billion for road construction projects in 2024.

On the social front, the government has launched a Student Loan Scheme that has already received over 500,000 applications, thereby expanding access to interest-free funding for tertiary education. The administration has also commenced the construction of 50,000 affordable housing units in Abuja and Lagos, as part of a broader plan to deliver 500,000 units annually. To enhance food security, one million bags of fertilizer have been distributed to farmers, with additional investments in mechanized agriculture projected to increase crop yields by 20 percent in 2024.

In the area of security and governance, the federal government allocated ₦2.1 trillion to national security, a commitment that has contributed to a 25 percent reduction in incidents of banditry and kidnapping. President Tinubu’s cabinet is widely regarded as inclusive, reflecting a fair balance in terms of gender, geopolitical representation, and professional expertise. Furthermore, Nigeria’s admission into the G20 group of nations has elevated the country’s status in global economic governance, allowing it to play a more active role in shaping international economic decisions.

Ambassador Tsoken concluded that with the progress made under President Tinubu’s leadership, the APC remains the party of choice for Nigerians who desire genuine development, national unity, and a secure future. He called on all citizens to continue supporting the administration in its efforts to deliver on the Renewed Hope Agenda.
