The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Chapter has elected Engr. Caleb Adeosun from Department of Agricultural Bio Engineering as Chairman.

Adeosun emerged unopposed during ASUP election held at the Conference Hall of the Polytechnic on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.

Mr Abdulrasaq Moruf Olarewaju (Liberal Studies) emerged Vice Chairman after polling 213 votes to defeat Mrs Rhoda Omolade who scored 116 votes. Mr Valentine Adesanya FCA polled 201 votes to become Welfare Officer as his opponent, Dr. Ezekiel Clinton OROKE garnered 123 votes. Oyewale Oyelola (Mass Communication) polled 194 votes to emerge Public Relations Officer while his opponent, Mr Adelana scored 126 votes. Oluboyede Jimoh (Survey and Geoinformatic) emerged Financial Secretary with 201 votes defeating Yusuf Jimoh who recorded 123 votes.

Other elected officials are Dr. Barr. Omolola Fateropa (General Secretary), Lamidi Daniel (Treasurer), Oladele Owoyemi (Assistant General Secretary) and Kehinde Ajao (Internal Auditor) who all emerged unopposed.

The ASUP Zonal Coordinator for South West, Nurudeen Masopa sworn-in the new executive after declaration of results by Electoral Committee chaired by Engr. Dr. Adeoye. The new executives will serve two years tenure.

Adeosun in his acceptance speech said “Your vote was not just a choice, it was a voice. A voice crying for a revived Union, a stronger structure, and a

leadership that truly listens, understands, and acts. I hear you. I feel your pulse and I am ready to serve. The purpose of unionism is to stand in the gap where silence has been loud, and presence has been absent. Let this

mark the rebirth of ASUP in our chapter, not as a passive body of forgotten lecturers, but as a fortified family of empowered academics.

“Today, I pledge together with my team of elected officers before you all, not to occupy an office, but to activate

a purpose – a purpose of servant-leadership where your welfare will be my highest priority; where injustice shall

have no hiding place; and where transparency shall be the light that guides our path. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

once said, “Power properly understood is nothing but the ability to achieve purpose.” My purpose is clear: to

fight for what is fair, to speak when silence is costly and to listen deeply, honestly, consistently. Together, we will revive your trust in the Union. I may have been elected Chairman, but I am one among

equals. We are many branches, but of one body. Let our differences be our diversity, not our division. My belief

as always been that, Unionism is not about noise; it is about voice. It is not about posturing; it is about positioning.”
