Advertising practitioner, Mr. Oru Leonard Oru, FRPA, has commended the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, and the Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), for the inauguration of the Advertising Offences Tribunal.
Oru, who made the commendation on Wednesday, described the inauguration as a significant milestone in efforts to strengthen regulation, promote professionalism and uphold ethical standards in Nigeria’s advertising and marketing communications industry.
He noted that the effectiveness of the Tribunal would be critical to the future of advertising practice in Nigeria, particularly in ensuring compliance with professional standards and holding offenders accountable.
According to him, a functional and credible Tribunal would further strengthen confidence in the advertising industry and contribute to the growth of professionalism among practitioners.
“The inauguration of the Advertising Offences Tribunal is a welcome development. Its effectiveness will go a long way in determining the future of advertising practice in Nigeria and in further strengthening professionalism in the sector,” Oru said.
He commended Minister Mohammed Idris for supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening the regulatory framework of the industry, while also applauding the ARCON Director-General for his leadership and commitment to advancing professionalism in advertising practice.
Oru urged members of the Tribunal to discharge their responsibilities with fairness, integrity and professionalism, stressing that its success would depend largely on the confidence it inspires among practitioners, businesses and the general public.
He also called on stakeholders in the advertising and marketing communications industry to support the Tribunal and other regulatory initiatives designed to build a more transparent, credible and professionally driven advertising sector in Nigeria.
