APC-IGG Urges Tinubu, Campaign Council to Include Key Taraba Stakeholders in 2027 Campaign Structure

2 Mins read

The APC Initiative for Good Governance (APC-IGG) has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to urgently review the composition of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council and include key political stakeholders from Taraba State ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The group expressed concern over what it described as the omission of influential political figures from Taraba State in the recently released list of the Presidential Campaign Council, warning that their exclusion could undermine party cohesion and grassroots mobilisation in the state and the wider North-East geopolitical zone.

In a press release signed by its National President, Amb. Musa Muhammed Tsoken, the APC-IGG called for the inclusion of four prominent Taraba APC stakeholders, citing their political influence, organisational capacity, commitment to the party and grassroots appeal.

The appeal was addressed to President Tinubu, who is the APC Presidential Campaign Council chairman, as well as the council’s Director-General, Senator Abdulaziz Yari; Deputy Director-General, Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke; APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas; and the state APC chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Bawwa.

The group identified the individuals proposed for inclusion as Hon. Muazu Sambo Jaji, former Minister of Transportation; Chief Dr. David Sabo Kente; Engr. Ahmed Yusuf Gamalia; and Amb. Tsoken himself.

According to the statement, Sambo, a former minister and leading gubernatorial aspirant during the last APC primaries in Taraba State, commands considerable grassroots support and remains an influential political figure in the state.

The group described Chief Dr. Kente as a major APC stakeholder and financier who purchased the party’s gubernatorial expression of interest and nomination forms, adding that his contributions and sacrifices have been significant to efforts aimed at promoting party unity and stability in Taraba.

It also highlighted the experience of Engr. Gamalia, a former national commissioner, noting that his technocratic background, institutional experience and national connections could strengthen the strategic capacity of the campaign council.

Tsoken, who is the National President of APC-IGG and National Coordinator of the Asiwaju Again Renewed Hope Support Initiative 2027, was presented as a key figure in coordinating grassroots support structures across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The statement said his involvement in mobilising support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda had positioned him as an important link between political stakeholders in Taraba and the party’s national campaign structure.

The APC-IGG maintained that the proposed inclusions would promote a stronger sense of belonging among party stakeholders and reinforce the campaign’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

“Their formal inclusion in the Presidential Campaign Council would not only confer genuine Taraba representation and ownership on the structure but would also enhance mobilisation, foster greater internal cohesion, and substantially increase the prospects of a decisive victory,” the statement said.

The organisation acknowledged the efforts of the campaign council’s leadership in assembling what it described as a broad-based structure but argued that the concerns raised over Taraba State required urgent attention in the interest of fairness, equitable representation and party unity.

It appealed to the President and other party leaders to consider the request favourably, expressing confidence in their capacity to address the concerns and ensure that influential stakeholders from the state were adequately represented.

The appeal comes as political stakeholders and support groups position themselves ahead of the 2027 general election, with party unity, grassroots engagement and the coordination of support structures expected to remain important considerations in the APC’s preparations.

The statement was signed by Amb. Musa Muhammed Tsoken, who also holds the designations CWSA, FPPA and FCIPDM and is pursuing a PhD in Human Security and Counter-Terrorism.

The APC-IGG reiterated its commitment to the APC and called for a more inclusive campaign structure that recognises the contributions and political relevance of stakeholders across Taraba State.
