Ortom Presents Vehicles to Security Agencies

Governor Samuel Ortom has presented 16 vehicles to security agencies in the State to enable them respond swiftly to calls and challenges.

 

Making the presentation at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi the Governor charged the state security outfit, Operation Zenda, made up of the military, Police, Civil Defence and the State Security Services to scale up the fight against crime.

He stated that the vehicles will be stationed in Makurdi, Gboko, Katsina-Ala and Otukpo from where they will convey operatives to flash points promptly.

 

He expressed appreciation for the approval of the security council to constitute the Joint Security Task Force and the security agencies for successes recorded so far in the reduction of crime adding however, that more needed to be done to stem the new wave of assassinations and other criminal activities.

 

Governor Ortom assured of his administration’s determination to provide maximum security for lives and property in the State, stressing that such would provide an enabling environment for investors as well as ensure peaceful coexistence among people.

He charged the Joint Task Force to be committed in the execution of its assignment for effective result.

 

Governor Ortom stated that the state was working on establishing livestock guards as enshrined in the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law 2017 as the November deadline for its implementation draws nearer.

 

Benue State Police Commissioner, Mr. Bashir Makama, said the command would do its best to rid the state of crime stressing that the war against the menace was a gradual process already on-going in the State
