Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has inaugurated the 68 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas caretaker Chairmen recently cleared by the House of Assembly.

The inauguration, which was held at the Executive Council Chambers of the governor’s office, had all the chairmen and their families in attendance.

Makinde  said the inauguration of the caretaker chairmen is to ensure that a vacuum is not created in governance.

“We are doing this to make sure our people continue to enjoy the dividends that accrue from electing a legitimate government.

“I have often said that this administration is people-oriented  and will  continue to put the people first.

“You will agree with me that the closer the government is to people, the more impactful and meaningful the activities of government will be to them, therefore, this inauguration is an integral and essential part of the good governance that we promised the people of Oyo state,” he said.

The governor affirmed that the caretaker chairmen  will be the link between the state government and the people, thus  bringing the people closer to the government.

He enjoined them to contribute their quota to ensure that the state moves forward, adding that they have a key role to play  with the state government to implement his administration’s  roadmap to success.

It would be recalled that there are allegations and counter allegations on the impropriety or otherwise of the Governor’s promise to install the Council bosses after ousted APC Chairmen claimed that they are the authentic managers to oversee activities of the 68 local government areas.

Both parties made claims of the judiciary right to support their positions.

The sacked Chairmen last week made frantic efforts to resume at their various offices with security operatives given protection to facilities and lives of the people
