NECO Harps on Stronger Ties With NSCDC

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, while playing host to the Registrar, lauded the existing partnership between National Examination Council (NECO) with the NSCDC, by saying that the visit has further deepen the relationship by strengthening the ties with the two Agencies especially in providing security for the candidates and the officials of NECO during examination period.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Spokesperson of the NSCDC,  DCC Emmanuel Okeh and made available to Time Nigeria. 

Gana made these remarks during the courtesy visit by the newly appointed Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of National Examination Council Prof. Godswill Obioma at the NSCDC National Headquarters, Sauka, Abuja.

The Registrar, Prof. Godswill Obioma, posited that he came to foster a robust relationship with the NSCDC and to familiarize with the Corps in order to promote existing synergy between the two organisations and how best the Personnel can discharge their mandate during field operations.

Prof. Obioma noted that the visit was to deepen partnership with the Corps watching over the NECO exams centres across the nation. The Registrar wants the Corps to provide administrative and operational protection for officers of NECO on field work. He pledged to not disappoint Nigerians with the responsibility reposed on him and his management team.

The CG, in a warm reception enlightened the Registrar on the Corps mandate such as the protection of Critical Infrastructure and National Assets in Nigeria, Disaster Management which can be as a result of natural disaster or man-made by carrying out Rescue, Operation, Rehabilitation and Mitigation. He stressed that the Corps also carry out reconciliatory activities between individuals engaged in any form of conflict through the Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanism.

He reiterated that the Corps has the sole responsibility of registering, regulating, licencing and monitoring the Private Guard Company in Nigeria, and also, see to the training of the Private Guard Personnel nationwide in order to reposition them to complement the activities of regular security Agencies of Government.

Gana briefed the Registrar on the activities of the Agro-Rangers Squad, a unit established to protect Agro-Allied investment, which today is the bride of the Corps as many states have keyed into the activities.

The Corps helmsman maintained that the Federal Government is doing well for the Corps and further clamoured for a healthy synergy amongst Federal government Agencies.
