As fuel scarcity continued to bites harder across the country, the Initiative for Leadership and Economic Watch in Nigeria and a host of other Civil Society Organizations, CSOs are set to hold a rally aimed at calling for the immediate sack of the Group Managing Director, GMD of Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, Malam Mele Kolo Kyari.

In a statement signed by the Director of Mobilization of the organisation, Comrade Eshiet Uwem and made available to newsmen in Abuja.

The statement stated that, “The call was necessary as a result of the importation of adulterated Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as petrol into the country by the erring oil marketers who are under commercial contracts with the NNPC.”

The CSOs also accused Mr. Kyari for his ineptitude to ascertain the quality of the fuel prior to importing it into the country which ultimately led to the damage of several car engines of millions of Nigerians.

It further stated that, “Mr. Kyari was equally blamed for not taking full responsibility for the victims of damaged vehicle engines since the unfolding of the unfortunate event.”

Sequel to that, the CSOs has therefore deem it imperative to quickly withdraw their earlier support for Mr. Kyari and decided to embark on public match press briefing slated for Thursday, February 24, 2022 at NNPC Towers and National Assembly Complex respectively for the immediate relieve of his appointment.

Meanwhile, they solicited for the citizens support in joining hand with President Muhammadu Buhari toward boosting the nation’s economic and also promised to unveil platform for profiling the victims of damaged car engines as a result of the imported bad fuel by NNPC and it’s partners
