A 45year-old, Ekundayo Docked for Abandoning Dead  Body in His Apartment

A 45year-old man, John Ekundayo has been docked at an Iyaganku Magistrates Court in Ibadan for abandoning a dead human body in his apartment.

The accused who was arraigned on one-count charge with charge No. MI/323c/2017 is accused of improper or indecent interference with the dignity of the deceased

He allegedly abandoned a woman in a room instead of burying her.

The prosecutor, Inspector Ogunremi Sunday told the court that the accused committed the crime on the 28th of February 2017 at about 0630hrs at NW2/403 Okebiyi compound Idi-kan, Ibadan

He said the offence contravenes sections 242(1)(b) Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.

 

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs A. F. Richard granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties.

The judge however said that one of the sureties has to be the accused blood relative in possession of a National Identification Card (National ID card) and the second surety should be at least a level nine (9) officer in the civil service.

He adjourned the case till April 19, 2017 for further hearing
