Ajia Receives Special Prayers at 8-Day Fidau for Late Grandmother in Ilorin

The Dan Amanan Fune Emirate of Yobe State and Nwanne Ukwu Di Na Mba of Amaba-Ukwu Item in Abia State, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia, Ph.D, received special prayers and blessings during the 8-day Fidau prayer held in honour of his late grandmother, Alhaja Salamatu Abdulkareem Ajike, who passed away on Monday, 2nd February, 2026.

The solemn prayer session, held on Tuesday, 10th February, 2026, at Ileomo, Salamalikum Compound, Baboko area of Ilorin, Kwara State, attracted a large gathering of Islamic scholars (Ulama), family members, political associates, and well-wishers who came to pay their respects and seek Allah’s mercy for the departed soul.

The special prayer session for Alhaji Ajia was led by Alfa Garba Oniyan Al-Adabiy, with Sheikh Muhammad Awwal and Alfa Agba Jamo-Odo joining in the supplications. The Imam of Ileomo Mosque and Alfa Abubakar (Alfa Alapata) coordinated the prayers, while several clerics took turns to offer prayers for the deceased and the bereaved family.

Beyond prayers for the repose of the soul of the late Alhaja Salamatu Abdulkareem Ajike, clerics offered heartfelt supplications for Allah’s mercy upon Alhaji Ajia, praying for divine guidance, good health, long life, and success in his future endeavours. Special prayers were also offered for him to attain his “best political promised land,” following his recent decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). Similar prayers were extended to friends and associates who accompanied him to the Fidau prayer.

Prominent dignitaries who graced the occasion included Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki Gambari, MFR, North Central Coordinator of the City Boy Movement and a governorship aspirant in Kwara State ahead of 2027; business magnate and politician, Alhaji Sherif Shagaya; Alhaji Baba Abdulrauf Abdulrasaq; alongside several other notable personalities.

During the prayer session, Islamic clerics also offered special supplications for Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki Gambari, praying that Allah grants him success in his ambitions, uplifts him in his endeavours, and continues to bless him for his consistent support to Islamic scholars and the wider community. The clerics emphasized that kindness to religious scholars and service to society attract divine blessings.

The Fidau prayer further featured collective supplications for peace, unity, and progress in Kwara State and Nigeria at large. Generous donations were made by attendees towards the development of the Ileomo Mosque as part of the Fidau activities.

Family members of the deceased, community leaders, Islamic scholars, political associates, and well-wishers described the presence of dignitaries at the Fidau prayer as a show of unity, compassion, and respect for the bereaved Ajia family.

Prayers were concluded with appeals to Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus, and bestow strength, comfort, and patience upon the family she left behind.
