
With total submission to the will of Allah (SWT), the Management of Ashraaf Islamic Foundation, under the leadership of Imam (Dr) Sharafudeen Abdulsalam Aliagan, has received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Al-Imam Bashir Soliu, OON, who answered the call of his Lord on Monday, 19.
In a condolence statement signed by the Executive Director of Communications of the Foundation, Dr. Mahmud Funsho Kasandubu in Abuja, stated that the Foundation extended heartfelt commiseration to the Chairman, Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers and Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, the Government and the good people of Kwara State, the Ilorin Emirate Development Progressive Union (IEDPU), Sons and Daughters of Ilorin Emirate, and the entire Muslim Ummah in Kwara State and beyond over this great loss to Islam and the Ummah.
The statement described the late Chief Imam as an icon of Islamic scholarship, piety, humility, and unwavering commitment to the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), whose life was dedicated to the service of Islam, the guidance of the faithful, and the preservation of unity within the Ilorin Emirate and beyond.
According to the statement, “Indeed, Innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rājiʿūn (Verily, we belong to Allah and unto Him we shall return). The demise of Imam Bashir Soliu is a profound loss, not only to Ilorin but to the entire Muslim Ummah. He lived a life of da‘wah, taqwā, and selfless service to Allah and humanity,” the statement read.
Ashraaf Islamic Foundation fervently prayed that Allah (SWT), in His boundless mercy, forgive the shortcomings of the departed, accept his good deeds, expand his grave with light, and admit him into the highest rank of Al-Jannatul Firdaus among the righteous.
The Foundation also prayed that Allah (SWT) grant ṣabr jamīl (beautiful patience) and divine comfort to the Emir of Ilorin, the family of the deceased, the Ilorin Emirate, and the entire Muslim Ummah to bear the pain of this irreparable loss, while replacing it with enduring reward.
Ashraaf Islamic Foundation urged Muslims to honour the memory of the late Chief Imam by sustaining prayers for him, upholding his legacy of righteousness, and remaining steadfast upon the path of Islam as exemplified by his noble life.
