After the screening of the 23 commissioner nominees by the Plateau state house of Assembly, the governor mandated them to tour and visits the seventeen local government areas of Plateau state.
The commissioners finally took Oath of Office at the presence of the executive governor of Plateau state, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, Deputy speaker of the house of Representatives, House of reps members from and outside the state, top government functionaries as well as people from all the seventeen local government areas of the state.
Delivering his speech, Lalong said the day marks another important one in the history of Plateau state, as the team of commissioners to deliver our second term mandate. This event is taking place few days after the governorship election petition tribunal has reaffirmed our victory. Let me reiterate my call to the members of the opposition, to join hands with us and move Plateau state forward, there is no winner, no vanquish.
“You will be recalled that, during the swearing in of the secretary to the government of the state and chief of staff, last month, I responded to the questions on the perceived delay in appointing commissioners and explain that, that was being strategic and extra careful, because this time, I am taking full responsibility for those that will eventually be selected to serve our people at the state executive council in line with the relevant constitutional provisions for constituting state executive council, in September, 2019, I transmitted the list of 23 commissioner nominees to the state house of Assembly. As the members of the state executive council, which is the highest policy formulation organ, is expected to advice on technical and procedural matters.”
He charged them to ensure good synergy and co-operation with their permanent secretaries, directors and other support staff toward successful implementation of programmes and projects of the government.
“You will appreciate that the burden place on you is heavy. After the screening by the State house of Assembly, we took a unique step by a familiarization visit to the 17 local government areas and the philosophy was to appreciate our royal fathers on behalf of the people, who gave us the mandate to serve them and receive the royal blessings for effective take off.
“For transparency and prudent management of scarce resources, I have approved the liquidity management committee and this will ensure that budgetary provisions and approvals are made on time. The governor assigned the portfolios to the new commissioners Thus: Dung Musa Gyang, Science and Technology. Aku Joseph Abe,Commerce and Industries.
Others are Wallanko Sylvester, Ibrahim, Budget and economic planning. Rebecca Adar Sambo, Women Affairs and social development. Irrimiya Jerry Werr, special duties,Inter governments affairs, Mohammed Mohammed Abubakar, Transportation, Pam Botmang, works, Hosea Finangwai, Agriculture. Dayyabu Garga, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tamwakat Weli, Tourism, Culture and Hospitality.

Ten Students to benefit Five Years Scholarship In Jos

Education has been described as a bed rock for any meaningful development in the society, and best legacy that can bequeath to the next generation. In line with his manifestoes and to fulfill his campaign promises to his constituents, Member representing Jos East/Jos South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly,Hon.Dachung Musa Bagos Awarded Scholarship to ten Students from his constituency. The beneficiaries are to enjoy the scheme for five years,those students are from the department of medical Laboratory science,University of Jos. The member charged them to be of good morales,the money will be paid direct to the school’s account and the beneficiaries will go to the school to generate RRR and subsequently issued receipts. According to Bagos, the era of issueing cash to students is gone,experience has shown that,some of them divert the money for other trivial things. Shortly after issuing the scholarship,hon. Bagos speaks with Journalists on what necessitate him to do that,we take deliberate steps to build the next generation and they focus their attention to the Medical Laboratory scientists because of their role in the society. They gives guide to doctors. The next generation cannot be effectively equip without a sound and functional education, capacity building and economic empowerment. My desire is that,I will build my constituents educationally so that they can be greater than some of us,which is part of my own cardinal objective.Without education,the next generation will be empty, with God on our side, we will increase the number of the beneficiaries. we have also been able to reach our constituents via agricultural inputs,Fertilizers and insecticides.
