Following the resumption of President Muhammadu Buhari back in office, the Chief policy drivers of Nigerian economy, visit Mr President in order to keep him abreast of the economic situation of the country while he was away for medical treatment in United Kingdom.
For more than an hour, Mr President was engaged by his economic team including the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, and Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Godwin Emefiele.
The Ministers and CBN Governor avail the President on the improving economy, implementation of the 2017 Budget, preparation for the 2018 Budget, revenue strategies, combined cost reduction and debt management. Monetary policy strategies and their economic impact, among others were also discussed during the briefing.
In his response, President Buhari, reminds the Ministers and CBN Governor that Nigeria’s economic revival remains sacrosanct being a major issue in which the governing party, the All Progressives Party, APC campaign revolved around during the electioneering process in 2015.
Mr President however expressed happiness that things were looking up after two years of service to the nation. He encouraged his team to keep up the good jobs, adding that the main aim of government was to bring relief to Nigerians across all walks of life. President Buhari also confirmed that he was pleased with the progress being made so far on different economic fronts.
