 By Samuel Oyejola

In spite the challenge in the power sector, Nigerians have been advised to invest more in the sector as it is the money spinning industry of the future.

The Chairman of the Egbin Power Plc, Kola Adeshina, who gave this advise recently in Abuja while speaking to a group of young professionals and entrepreneurs said that notwithstanding the challenges bedeviling the sector, the commitment of the current investors and the determination of the government to provide constant and affordable power supply to Nigerians, the country is set to produce billionaires through the sector in the nearest future.

“There are too many opportunities in Nigeria begging for attention especially in the power sector. Nigeria electricity will get better and you are going to see and celebrate new billionaires in the nearest future,” he said.

As at the end of October Nigeria generate 4,900 megawatts. But last week the federal government approved the construction of the Mambilla Hydro-Power Project at Gembu in Taraba state. The construction that would take 6 years is expected to generate 3,050 megawatts.

The programme organized by the City of David Abuja of the Redeemed Christian Church of God brought together young professionals and entrepreneurs.

Adeshina believes that Nigeria has more than enough opportunities begging for attention especially in the power sector. He challenged the young entrepreneurs and professionals to leverage on the current economic challenges and make the best out of it.

He revealed that in spite of the current challenges in the sector, opportunities abound in the power sector for Nigerians to invest in.
