Action Alliance denies support for group

The political movement in Ekiti State, under the auspices of the South-West Agenda for Asiwaju 2023 (SWAGA), yesterday, commenced a tour of the 16 local councils of the state to sensitise members on the desirability of the choice of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as President of the country.

The tour, which is also to sensitise members for the electoral contests ahead in Ekiti, was aimed at sensitising members of the APC on the need for quality representation in coming elections.

National Chairman of the political group, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, who led the tour alongside the Chairman of the Ekiti State SWAGA, Tony Adeniyi (SAN), across the 16 local government councils, said that it was only through quality representation in governance that the country, and indeed Ekiti State, could be delivered from crises.

Adeyeye said that SWAGA, as a political pressure group, would leave no stone unturned in effort to secure a generally accepted candidate for the number one seat in Ekiti State come 2022.

He also said that the group was adopting a holistic approach in the effort to put sanity to governance, starting from the Ekiti State APC primary slated to hold in January, 2022.

“A journey of a thousand miles must start with a step. We feel the need to start early with this move so that the Yoruba race will be on same page, for once, in picking who to lead from their zone. We are breaking the age-long celebrated curse of Alaafin Aole, which we were made to believe is causing us not to speak with one voice. We have witnessed so many disappointments in the past, caused by disunity. We want to do it differently this time.

“What we are doing is voluntary. We see it as our own contribution, for the good of our state, zone and the nation at large. We are so resolute in the effort; we are so committed. We are sure the nation, and indeed, Ekiti State, will begin to see the dividend of our efforts from January next year when we shall be holding our party’s primary,” he said.

HOWEVER, Chairman, Lagos Congress Committee of Action Alliance (AA), Olaniyi Fadahunsi, has refuted claims that the party has pledged to support the grand illusory scheme of SWAGA) 2023.

Fadahunsi, who stated this in a statement yesterday in Lagos, said: “It has come to our notice that some persons representing a purported South West Agenda (SWAGA) are making nebulous and unfounded claims of Action Alliance’s pledge of support to their grand illusory scheme. We in Action Alliance do not give frivolous endorsement to groups whose agenda do not align with our ideology.

“We are using this medium to unequivocally refute this false claim by the group and to equally advise it against entertaining anyone masquerading as representatives of Action Alliance.” Fadunsi stressed that SWAGA should desist from using the party’s name in their publicity or meetings.
