Empowering Youths Through Tech: ‘Tech on the Street’ Initiative Advocates Digital Skills for Self-Reliance

Individuals and cooperate organisations have been urged to continue to promote initiatives that will get the youths off the street and make them self reliant.

The convener of ‘Tech on the Street ” and an Asst Doctor with Confluence University of Science and Technology Osara, Dr Umoru Caleb made the appeal in Lokoja during the training of the participants on the ‘Tech on the Street’ program targeted towards empowering youths on various skills acquisition to earn a living.

Dr Caleb emphasised that government has done a lot in the aspect of youths empowerment without much focus on digital technology which is more flexible, easier and dynamic for a successful lifestyle.

He described Tech on the Street as a brainchild of professionals, academia who are all out to study the trend of unemployment and proffer solutions through Tech and Digital Skills which youths are always interested in.

The Lecturer said Technology Skills can be acquired between two weeks and serves as a means of earning a living if legitimately utilised.

The Associate Doctor explained that there are various programmes anchored by the organisation including those that falls between two weeks to four months saying the pilot scheme currently done is free with the hope that well meaning Nigerians will step in on partnership base for expansion.

He recalled how the organisation has promoted several petty traders and shop owners through on line approach to market their goods or products.

The convener of the program urged politicians and philanthropists to partner with the organisation to promote the objectives of the organisation.
