Ex-Rep Teejay Yusuf Slams Senate Leadership Over Akpabio-Natasha Feud, Calls for Wisdom and Reconciliation

1 Mins read

A former member representing Kabba-Bunu/ Ijumu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives Rotaractor Honourable Tajudeen Yusuf (aka Teejay Yusuf) has expressed disappoinment at the way the lingering feud between the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and the Senator representing Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is being managed.

A statement by Teejay Yusuf stated that the Senate without careful application of wisdom experience had operated in error by allowing the crises to snowballed into national and international debate.

The former lawmaker in the statement noted that the row would have been nipped in the bud if the leadership of the Senate had exhibited genuinety, sincerity and comradeship in handling the crises.

The statement faulted the application of strength and dominance when proper reasoning would have saved the situation emphasizing that the initial matter of seating arrangement should not have been allowed to escalate to bigger issues.

He flawed several avoidable moves including the suspension saga, recall process as well the alleged manipulation of the committee attendant list which he described as a dance to the rhythim of some drummers.

The statement reiterated that parliament all over the world is a place of contest noting that Natasha’s clamour on seating arrangement was not out of place citing previous agitation between Akpabio and former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Saraki and David Mark too, Femi Gbajabiamila Chinda Kinsley, Rima Shawulu, and Teejay Yusuf and Gbajabiamila as examples which were resolved amicably.

He congratulated Akpoti-Uduaghan for being dogged in the midst of intimidation and urged her to continue her commitment towards impacting positively on the people of Kogi Central Senatorial District.

The statement expressed hope for an amicable solution to rebrand the battered image of the Senate urging well meaning Nigerians to intervene in the matter.
