Following the death of the lawmaker representing Ekiti South-West Constituency 2 at the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Otunba Michael Adedeji, Ekiti State Government has concluded plans to review the current security situation in the state to ensure effective policing across the state.

Governor Kayode Fayemi stated this while reacting to the death of a lawmaker, Mr Micheal Adedeji who died as a result of injuries sustained during an attack from gunmen and spate of killings in the state.

Governor Fayemi expressed concern over the porous security of the state which had claimed notable lives and stressed that stringent measures need to be taken to check the reoccurrence of such unfortunate acts.

The governor said government would meet and dialogue with the heads of security apparatuses to strategise on how to increase security surveillance throughout the state to ensure protection of lives.

Dr. Fayemi who described the deceased as a perfect gentleman, who would be greatly missed, condoled the family and prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Report from the hospital says the lawmaker gave up the ghost in the early hours of today, following the terrible injuries inflicted on him by the assailants.

Meanwhile there has been palpable calm at the assembly over the news of his death.

Staff of the assembly who wore a gloomy look were also seen in groups discussing and wondering what could have led to his attack.
