FG, Gates Foundation Partners Hold National Health Media Dialogue in Abuja Tomorrow

The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare will tomorrow, Thursday, October 23, 2025, host a National Health Media Dialogue with Media Executives at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

The high-level engagement, organized in collaboration with the International Society of Media in Public Health (ISMPH) and the EngenderHealth Consortium, is part of the Gates Foundation–funded project titled “Advocacy Solutions to Improve PHC and RMNCAH+N Delivery and Health Outcomes in Lagos, Kano, and Kaduna States.”

According to a letter signed by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, CON, the meeting seeks to strengthen Nigeria’s health sector and advance Primary Health Care (PHC) delivery and outcomes across the three focus states.

The objectives of the media dialogue include building consensus among government, media, and partners on strategies to expand PHC financing and improve service delivery; strengthening the capacity of media actors to frame and sustain PHC issues in public discourse; and securing actionable commitments from policymakers and stakeholders for improved fiscal allocation and delivery of PHC services.

Professor Pate emphasized that the dialogue is a vital step in fostering collaboration between the media and policymakers toward achieving a more resilient, inclusive, and results-oriented national health system.

Key stakeholders expected at the event include media executives, policymakers, health advocates, and development partners. The meeting is scheduled to commence at 9:00 a.m. prompt at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
