Gombe State NUJ Rolls Out the Red Carpet for National President

The Gombe State Council of the NUJ recently hosted a grand reception in honour of the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Alhassan Yahya Abdullahi, at the White Hill Luxury Hotels in Gombe.

The event was attended by top government officials, including the Head of Service, Kasimu Ahmed Abdullahi, and the Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Salihu Baba Alkali.

Other dignitaries present included the Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Industry, Honourable Nasiru Muhammad Aliyu, and Honourable Aliyu Baba Manu, Member representing Gombe North Constituency at the Gombe State House of Assembly.

The ALGON Chairman, Gombe State and Chairman Gombe Local government, Barr. Sani A. A Haruna, Executive Secretary of GoHealth, Dr Abubakar Musa and the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Government House, Mallam Ismaila Uba Misilli, were also in attendance.

The Director-General of the Gombe Media Corporation (GMC), Dr Ibrahim Isa, NLC Chairperson, Gombe State Chapter, Yusuf Aish Bello, and numerous practising journalists from Gombe and North Eastern Nigeria completed the impressive lineup of guests.

The reception was a testament to the strong relationship between the government and the media in Gombe State, providing an opportunity for stakeholders to interact and discuss issues of mutual interest.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the NUJ Gombe State Council, Faruk Muazu Gombe, expressed gratitude to the government for its support and hospitality. He praised the government’s efforts in promoting a conducive environment for journalists to operate in the state.

The event was a resounding success, with guests praising the government’s commitment to fostering a positive relationship with the media.

As Alhassan Yahya Abdullahi continues to promote the interests of journalists across the country, the Gombe State government has demonstrated its willingness to collaborate and support the media in the state. Abdullahi’s emergence as the NUJ National President is a significant milestone, having polled 436 votes to defeat his rivals.
