Governor Inuwa Yahaya Participates at Closing Session of 2nd Gombe Security Summit

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has participated in the closing session of the second edition of the Gombe State Security Summit which held between Wednesday and Thursday at the International Conference Center (ICC), Gombe.

In a statement made available to Newsmen by
Ismaila Uba Misilli Director General Press Affairs Government House Gombe, Indicated that the summit brought together representatives of security agencies in the state, as well as the GOC of the 3rd Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Folusho Oyinlola, top government officials, civil society groups, traditional and community leaders, and experts from various security-related fields.

Recall that on the first day of the summit, Governor Inuwa Yahaya donated and unveiled 50 operational vehicles to security agencies to
bolster their capacity to combat crime, ensure peace, and maintain stability across the state.

Papers presented at the day-2 included: ‘Understanding the Security Landscape in Gombe State: Opportunities and Challenges,’ which was separately presented by the Gombe State representatives of the NPF, DSS, NSCDC, and the Army; and ‘Traditional Institutions and Conflict Resolution in Gombe State and Northern Nigeria,’ presented by the Attorney General of Gombe State and Commissioner of Justice, Barr. Zubair Muhammed Umar.

Other papers include: ‘Climate Change and Its Impact on Security in the Northeast,’ presented by Prof. Abubakar Mungono of UNIMAID’s Center for Disaster Risk Management, and ‘Media’s Role in Security Awareness and Community Engagement,’ presented by Aliyu Dahiru Aliyu of HumAngle Media.

Also presented were papers on ‘Drug Abuse, Mental Health, and Violent Behavior: Breaking the Cycle in Gombe’ and ‘From Pulpit to Peacebuilding: The Evolving Role of Religious Leaders in Gombe’s Security Architecture,’ by Thankgiiod Ocheho, Ibrahim Yusuf Gombe, Rev. Joseph Shinga, and Prof. Abdulganiyu Abdulrasheed, respectively.

A communiqué outlining the summit’s position was read at the end of the event by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi.
