‘I Will Improve on My Predecessor’s Achievements’ – MDCAN Kogi Chair Assures Members

The newly elected Chairman of the Federal Medical Centre Lokoja Chapter of the Medical and Dental Consultant Association of Nigeria , (MDCAN) Doctor Egbeola Collins has assured of his commitment to improve on the past achievements of his predecessors in terms of welfarism and service delivery to the hospital.

Doctor Egbeola stated this during a dinner organized as part of activities to mark this year’s Biennial General Meeting of (MDCAN) held in Lokoja.

He said every preparation starts with God assuring that he had understudied leadership position from his predecessors and would bring to bare what he had learnt from them.

His words ;” every preparation has to do with God, I know God is behind me and I know I had a lot of experience people, those who had gone before me that I enjoyed their good will. I also believe in my own ability and as well that God is backing me, I will be able to deliver the aspirations and expectations of members who have faith in me by giving me their support”.

Doctor Egbeola who is a Consultant Psychiatric to the FMC promised that the welfare of members would be the number one priority of his administration as well as the development of the hospital.

He called for cooperation of the hospital community for a successful tenure.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chief Medical Director of the FMC, Doctor Olatunde Alabi who was represented by the Head of Clinical Services, Doctor Bernard Ododo said the hallmark of his administration is recorgnition of various unions in the hospital and charged the new Excos to sustain the harmonious relationship

Similarly, the outgoing Chairman of the Association, Doctor Adeyemi Williams, who recounted that a lot had been achieved during his tenure, urged the newly elected Excos to focus on both health care services to the hospital as well as the welfare of the members.

On the industrial action embarked upon by the Resident Doctors across the country, Doctor Adeyemi urged the Federal Government to look into their demands emphasising that without them, there is no way the hospital can move forward.

Other Executive members elected includes; Vice Chairman Doctor Abdulkareem Musa, Secretary Doctor Odekunle Raphael, Treasurer Doctor Egbagba Austin, Welfare Secretary, Doctor Ibiyeye Taiye.
