Hon. Sodiq Adewale Omotayo, popularly known as Sultan, has formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives, representing Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.
Omotayo made the declaration on Sunday, August 31, 2025, before party leaders, elders, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Ijoko Ward Secretariat, Ogun State, in a gathering that witnessed a massive turnout of supporters.
The event commenced with prayers led by Imam Sulaiman Omotayo, who committed the aspirant’s ambition into God’s hands.
In his remarks, the Ward Chairman of APC Ijoko, Hon. Olanrewaju Lookman Yakubu (HOLY), expressed gratitude to God, party leaders, and members, including Governor Dapo Abiodun, Alhaji Yusuf Adegbemiro, polling unit leaders, women leaders led by Mrs. Mariam Akiode, and the youth wing of the ward, for their overwhelming support.
According to him, “KOSELERI” — meaning “it has never happened before” — that Ijoko Ward produces such a formidable aspirant, noting that Hon. Omotayo’s ambition has brought renewed hope to the people. He further revealed that the ward had recorded over 3,500 new PVC registrations in just four days without financial inducement, a testament to the growing political awareness in the area.
Prayers were also offered by Alhaji Arowona, who recalled how the ward previously supported the emergence of Governor Dapo Abiodun, and prayed for similar success for Hon. Omotayo’s aspiration.
While addressing party members, Hon. Omotayo expressed deep appreciation to Almighty Allah, his parents, ward leaders, and community stakeholders. He described himself as a grassroots politician with proven integrity and commitment to the people, stressing that Ado-Odo/Ota needs “sensitive leadership” that prioritizes the needs of the masses.
“I, Hon. Sodiq Adewale Omotayo, humbly offer myself to represent Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives come 2027. I believe in my capacity to deliver purposeful leadership at this critical time, and I seek your blessings, support, and guidance to make this noble cause a reality,” he said.
He pledged to go beyond his constituency to attract development opportunities, sustain youth empowerment, and deliver the true dividends of democracy if elected. He also urged residents yet to register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to do so in preparation for the elections.
The event also recognized the presence of Supervisor Hon. Abimbola Ariaba, among other dignitaries.
