IMBL Partners ICPC to Eliminate Quackery, Corruptions & Sharp Practices

  •  Signs Memorandum of Understanding with ICPC

In its bid to eliminate quackery, sharp practices and corruption in Real Estate industry, the Institute of Mortgage Brokers IMBL on June 10, 2024 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC). This collaboration aims to foster transparency and combat corruption in the mortgage and real estate sectors through the strategic sanitisation.

In a statement signed by the Administrative Secretary of the Institute, Grace Steven states that, “ICPC the Nigerian government agency established to tackle corrupt practices and related offenses with a determination to eliminate corruption from the Nigerian society, has been at the forefront of implementing innovative strategies.”

According to the statement, “The collaboration with IMBL signifies another step in their efforts to embrace cutting-edge solutions.

“IMBL and ICPC aim to streamline processes, enhance accountability, increase transparency and immutability as well as ensure data security and integrity. This partnership will contribute to building trust among stakeholders and promoting ethical practices amongst practitioners including mortgage professionals, mortgage lenders, mortgage brokers, real estate brokers, mortgage agents and real estate agents.”

“As part of the MOU, IMBL will provide expertise and support to professionalising practices within the sector which will help ICPC in implementing solutions. The Institute will collaborate closely with ICPC to identify key areas to ensure reduction of corruption risks, and strengthen governance systems.” The statement stressed.

It also noted that, “Through this partnership, both bodies are committed to utilizing available resources to bring the industry to its full potential where it can contribute and ensure growth in the GDP of the Nation as is obtainable in other nations of the world.

“We are excited to partner with the ICPC in the fight against corruption,” said Dr. Jasper Adeleye, Registrar/CEO of IMBL. “the system we are building will play a crucial role in building a more transparent and accountable practice structure where the interests of the public is protected but not at the expense of the practitioner.

“This collaboration reaffirms our commitment to harnessing value for the betterment of the nation.”

Expressing his enthusiasm, Chairman of the ICPC Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN stated, “We are thrilled to join hands with IMBL. This partnership will empower us to implement innovative solutions and enhance our efforts in combating corruption. Together, we can create a system that fosters integrity and trust.”

By combining their respective expertise and resources, IMBL and ICPC are poised to revolutionize the fight against corruption in Nigeria within the mortgage and real estate sector. This groundbreaking collaboration is a testament to their shared commitment to building a corrupt-free Nigeria.
