Kwara NSCDC Reunites Kidnapped Kogi Varsity Student With Family, Parades Another Suspected Kidnapper

The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Monday reunited a 400-level student of Kogi State University, Anyigba, Muhammed Fauziyah, with her family. The Command also paraded a suspected kidnapper, Abu Umar.

Addressing journalists at the Command headquarters in Ilorin on Monday, 2nd December 2024, the State Commandant, Dr. Umar J.G. Mohammed, disclosed that investigations revealed that Fauziyah was abducted outside the premises of Kogi State University, Anyigba. However, the victim stated she could not recall how she ended up in Ilorin.

“Fauziyah was found wandering in Egbejila area in Ilorin when concerned neighbors alerted the community leaders, who promptly handed her over to the NSCDC.

Upon receiving the victim, we launched an investigation and established that she had been abducted in Kogi State but somehow got stranded in Ilorin, The commandant disclosed.

The victim has since been reunited with her uncle, Mallam Salihu Aliu, who expressed gratitude to the NSCDC for their swift action.

In a separate development, the Command paraded a suspected member of a kidnapping syndicate, Abu Umar. The suspect was allegedly involved in the abduction of a mother, Isiaka Halimah, and her two sons, Kabir Isiaka and Hassan Isiaka, on 7th November 2024, in the Gidanrogo area of Ajase-Ipo, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Speaking on the incident, Dr. Umar revealed that the suspect, had previously worked for the family of the abducted victims. He was tracked and arrested after the kidnappers used his phone number to contact the family of the victims.

“The suspect is currently assisting the NSCDC in our efforts to apprehend other members of the syndicate, who are still at large, and to secure the release of the victims,” Dr. Umar explained.

Dr. Umar reiterated the Command’s commitment to combating criminal activities and ensuring the safety and security of residents across the state.
