KOSEMA Distributes Relief Items to Flood Victims

The Executive Secretary of Kogi State Emergency Management Agency, Mr Isaac Kolade says post flood activities has commenced following approval from the state government.

Mr Kolade who stated this while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja said relief materials including food items and non food items would be distributed to affected victims of flood across the twenty one local government areas of Kogi State.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Yahaya Bello for his prompt intervention to relocate those who were affected to internally displaced camps as well as his gestures to meet their needs at the difficult moment.

The Secretary also thanked banks, Geregu Power Station, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Red Cross and other humanitarian organisations for their gestures and warned against any act of saboteur or diversions to avoid attendance consequences.

He said the State Emergency Management Agency would soon visit various schools, health care facilities centre, public offices and communities that were affected for firsthand assesment of the of the damages done and subsequent actions to get them back in shape.

Mr Kolade said efforts would continue to be geared towards prevention of flood and advised people to always avoid building structures along the water ways.

He added the desk officers , vice chairman and Supervisory Councillors on Agric from each Local Government have been contacted to get the relief materials for the affected victims.
