Honorable Idris Musa Abdullahi, popularly known as Thuraya and serving as the chairman of the Kwara State Football Association (KWSFA), has expressed that football has experienced unprecedented progress in the last five years, largely due to the unwavering support from Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq.
In a statement released to honor the governor’s 65th birthday, Thuraya highlighted the significant advancements in football within the state attributed to the governor’s steadfast backing. He emphasized that the achievements in football under the governor’s patronage are countless.
“This marks a historic period where our state’s premier League club, Kwara United FC, has maintained its position in the top tier for five consecutive years, a feat unprecedented in the annals of elite football in Kwara,”Thuraya articulated.
He elaborated on the substantial financial investment required to support football, underscoring the substantial benefits and opportunities it presents.
“Through the governor’s substantial investments, Kwara has captured the attention of scouts, paving the way for potential returns and advancements within the state,” he said.
Thuraya extended his gratitude to the governor for his instrumental role in the completion of the Football House, the headquarters of the state FA located in the Kwara State Stadium, now renamed George Agbazika Innih.
“Furthermore, the governor’s tribute to the legendary Nigerian striker, Rashidi Yekini, through the renaming of the stadium’s main arena in his honor, exemplifies his profound commitment to preserving the legacy of our sporting icons,”Honorable Abdullahi concluded.
