Kwara : NUJ Urges Media Managers on Professionalism

Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ ) Kwara State  correspondents chapel has urged the Media managers of political and public office holders in Nigeria to always distinguish themselves in the discharge of their duties by upholding the tenet of journalism profession.

This was said at the statement released to mark a special prayer organised by Nigeria Union Of Journalist (NUJ) Kwara State chapel in honour of Alhaji Abdullahi Olesin who was recently appointed as Senior Legislative aide ( Media ) to the senate president.

Abdullahi Olesin, a former editor of The Herald Newspapers, a Kwara state-owned media establishment, until his appointment was the regional editor, north- central of Leadership Newspaper.

The statement  noted that ‘‘ trained practitioners appointed as  media mangers of political and public  office holders must guide against hate speech and inflammatory remarks  especially now that the 2019 general elections draws nearer’’ .

The statement which was signed by the chairman of the correspondents’ chapel, Layi Olanrewaju and Secretary Umar Abdulwahab, commended the senate president for appointing trained and experienced media practitioners as his media aides.

The kwara state council chairman Comrade Abiodun Abdulkareem who earlier spoke through the chief Imam of NUJ Mosque, Mallam Abubakar Owolabi, said the special prayer was organised to seek Allah’s guidance and direction for the new appointee in discharging his new duties

The prayer session was attended by friends, family members of the appointee and journalists across the state.

Those in attendance included a former chief press secretary to Kwara state governor , Alhaji Mas’ud Adebimpe, the National Publicity Secretary Of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, Alh Mashood Amuda, chairman, Ibagun Progressive Union, Alh Idowu Omomeji, a senior aide of the Senate President, Alh AbdulRasaq Bolanta, former chairman of NUJ in the state, Alhaji Tunde Akanbi and former national vice president of NAWOJ, Hajia Bilikis Oladimeji, Public Relations Officers (PRO) ,College of Education, Ilorin and that of Kwara state Polytechnic, Ilorin Alhaji Abdulwaheed Aiyelabegan and Yinus Abdulkadir respectively.among others .
