In a spirited efforts to sustain a clean-Kwara, the state government has announced to hold a Midofied Sanitation exercise across the state, come Saturday.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Malam Yakub Kamaldeen Aliagan and made available to Journalists on Monday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
According to the statement, “This is to inform members of the public that the modified sanitation exercise for this month will come up on Saturday, 30th December, 2023 starting from seven to nine o’clock (7:00 am to 9:00 am) in the morning.
“Residents of the State are hereby enjoined to fully participate in the exercise, by cleaning both residential and business environments.”
Aliagan further stated that, “Members of the public are to note that there will be vehicular and human movement across the state due to the festivity periods.”
He added that, “Waste Management trucks will be made available for waste collection and subsequent disposal of the same at the dump site of the metropolis. Also, some of the illegal dump sites in some major areas will be cleared.”
The statement maintained that it is an offence to dump refuse on pedestrian walkways, road medians, drainages, canals and all other unapproved dump sites.
“In the same vein, any attempt to obstruct government officials from carrying out their statutory obligations will be dealt with, within the ambit of the law.” It concluded.
