Kwara State Government has assured Kwarans that its commitment to reforms in the education sector will continue to yield positive results as government is doing everything possible to ensure it did not renege in her promises at reforming the sector.
In a statement signed by the Press Secretary of the MOEHCD, Yakub K. Aliagan and made available to Time Nigeria stated that the state Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Fatimoh Bisola Ahmed disclosed this on Monday during the inspection of ongoing work at the proposed Police Secondary School Ballah and the newly constructed Government Day Secondary School Ballah.
The statement further stated, “While noting that infrastructure is key in the education development of any society, the Commissioner said it is for this reason that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazak approved the comprehensive renovation of 8 Secondary schools and partial renovation of another 23 schools across the three Senatorial Districts of the State.”
According to her, in addition to this the present administration has also approved the construction of the Police Secondary school -which is expected to take off by January, 2020- and Government Day Secondary School both in Ballah in Asa local government.
Hajia Ahmed further said the reforms were aimed at changing the education sector for better and also regain the lost glory of the state in the Northern States and Nigeria at large.
She however enjoined contractors handling both projects to deliver based on the agreements because government will not entertain any excuse that will disrupt the resumption of students.
In his remark, the Chief of Staff to the State Government, Alhaji Adisa Aminullahi Logun expressed satisfaction on the quality of job done by the contractors and charged them to continue work on specification.
The Chief Executive Officer, Ball Engineering Limited, Alh Bashir Atunde Lawal, who spoke on behalf of the contractors, commended the State Government for taking the education sector as a priority.
He also expressed appreciation to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazak for patronising indigenous contractors. According to him, the gesture will enhance economic development in the state.
Among the entourage of the commissioner were the Coordinator of the Police Children and Secondary schools in Kwara State, Hajia Lateefat Adeyeri, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Hajia Mariam Ayodeji Garba and other Principal Officers of the Ministry.
