KWSG Reverts Monthly Sanitation to 3 Hours Exercise

In a bid to sustain a cleaner and healthier environment, in order to forestall outbreak of epidemics, Kwara State Government has  reverted the normal 3 hours of the monthly sanitation exercise, with immediate effect.

This was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge in Ilorin today, Tuesday, adding that it is in line with the state Environmental Sanitation law of Section 29 (2) CAP E4 of 2006 which stipulates that the hours of Sanitation is from seven o’clock to ten o’clock (7: 00am – 10am) in the morning.

According to the statement signed by the Press Secretary of the Ministry, Kamaldeen Aliagan said that, “The Commissioner emphasised further that the move is necessary, in order to eradicate indiscriminate dumping of refuse and forestall the outbreak of diseases, adding that the Sanitation exercise has to be taken seriously and in accordance with the laws governing our state.

“Therefore, we need to invest more time in cleaning our surroundings, clearing our drainage and cutting the bushes around our residents.”

“The Commissioner however appealed to the public: “continue to cooperate with Government and its agencies, in its efforts  at ensuring a clean, safe and healthier Kwara, for residents and be more attractive to would be investors.” The statement concludes.
