Labour Party NTC Warns Against Illegal Congresses by Suspended Former Acting Chairman, Julius Abure

2 Mins read

The Labour Party National Transition Committee (NTC) has issued a stern warning to its members and the general public against participating in illegal congresses being organized by the suspended former acting national chairman, Barr. Julius Abure, and his expired council.

In a statement signed by Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar, Chairman, LP NTC and made available to Journalists on Sunday described the congresses as “illegal, criminal impersonation, and broad-day fraud” aimed at defrauding innocent members and the public.

According to the NTNTC “The reported congresses in various states, including Anambra, Imo, Edo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Sokoto, Ondo, Kaduna, and Adamawa, are in clear violation of a court judgment and the Nigeria Electoral Act. The committee emphasized that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not approve the congresses, and any participation or payment made to Abure’s rogue bank account would be at the individual’s risk.

“The congresses being organized by Julius Abure and his cohorts are null and void. They are in clear violation of the court judgment and our party’s constitution,” said Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar, Chairman of the Labour Party NTC.

“We urge our members to be cautious and not fall prey to Abure’s fraudulent activities. Any aspirations through his phantom NEC would suffer the same fate as previous electoral fiascos in Zamfara and Plateau states.”

The NTC warned that Abure’s actions are a blatant disobedience to the court judgment and a violation of the party’s constitution. “Abure’s actions are driven by a lust for money and a desire to sabotage our party’s victory in 2027,” Omar added. “We will not allow him to destroy our party’s image and reputation. We urge our members to refrain from supporting his illegal activities and instead work towards building a united and strong Labour Party.”

The committee also alleged that Abure and his cohorts are colluding with opposition parties to populate the Labour Party with “fifth column members” aimed at sabotaging the party’s chances in the 2027 elections. “We have evidence that Abure and his Nnewi mob have struck deals with the main opposition political parties to sell congress forms principally to fifth column members of these parties,” Omar said.

The NTC urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate Abure’s “rogue bank account, Zenith Bank Account Number 1213704059,” and bring him to book for financial crimes.

“Consequent upon the above, the Labour Party National Transition Committee (NTC) hereby warns genuine members of the Labour Party and the general public who have or intend to buy Abure’s illegal congress forms or pay monies to their above given rogue bank account issued by him and his impersonating Nnewi NEC, namely “Zenith Bank Account Number 1213704059,” or any other bank account whatsoever, do so at their own risk and in vain. We assure all aspiring party officers from ward through state to national levels who patronize Abure for any political aspiration in our party, his crew of congress merchants and fraud barons to refrain from doing so because their aspirations through Abure’s phantom NEC shall suffer the same fate as the Zamfara and Plateau state electoral fiascos described above.

“In due course, they will see their misplaced hopes buried in a mass grave of disobedient and misguided ambitions. To be forewarned is to be forearmed”, the NTC warned.

In conclusion, the Labour Party NTC reiterated its commitment to guiding the party towards transparent and democratic congresses, culminating in a credible national convention. “We assure our members that we will not allow Abure’s illegal activities to destroy our party. We will work tirelessly to build a united and strong Labour Party that will bring victory to our members and the Nigerian people in 2027,” Omar said.
