Green Lantern Initiative, organisers of the Lagos Bread Festival says it will host the maiden edition of the bread-centric fiesta in Lagos in conjunction with the Lagos State government in March 2020, during which it will attempt a global showcase of the World Largest Baked Bread.

In a chat with journalists in Lagos on Friday, Media Consultant for the Event, Mr. Israel Bolaji, said: “Arrangements are already in top gear for Green Lantern Initiative to host the maiden edition of the bread-centric family event in Lagos in collaboration with the Lagos State government in March 2020, during which there will be an attempt to bake and globally showcase the World Largest Baked Bread. “

Bolaji added: “The one-day event which will be attended and verified by officials of the Guinness World Records team will rally bread lovers, bakers and family, and feature various activities including bread and allied products exhibition, baking master class, baked bread competition, bread eating competition, drinking competition, music, comedy, kids entertainment and other engagements. “

The high point of the event will be the showcasing of the World’s Largest baked Bread which will enable Nigeria and all participating brands to feature in the Guinness Book of World Records, he explained.

Bread is the most popular staple food in Nigeria, even more than rice and others; As a ‘grab and go’ staple that goes with almost anything, it’s loved and accepted by all genders, ages and tribes in Nigeria.

Bread, as such, resonates with everyone and the LBF intends to highlight that bond that cuts through all and excites everyone.

In fact, a KPMG (2016) report pegged the rate of bread industry growth at 72 per cent and it’s worth a whopping $621 million market value and predicted to grow at par with a population, pegged at 5.7 per annum growth.

The event will be sponsored by reputable food and family focused companies in Nigeria
